        "content": "<p>Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Head of the North Jakarta and Thousand Islands\nFire and Rescue Sub-Department (Sudin Gulkarmat), Budi Haryono, has\nurged local residents not to burn rubbish indiscriminately as it can\ncause fires that harm the community.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe ask that no more residents burn rubbish carelessly,\u201d said Sudin\nGulkarmat Head Budi Haryono in Jakarta on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>He stated this following a fire at a pile of rubbish on an empty plot\nat Jalan Raya Bekasi KM 21, RT 03\/04, Pegangsaan Dua Ward, Kelapa Gading\nDistrict, on Friday (24\/6).<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the rubbish pile fire spread to an area estimated\nat around 5,000 square metres at the illegal waste disposal site.<\/p>\n<p>He recounted that the fire response began on Friday (24\/6) morning at\n08:20 WIB after receiving information from the public.<\/p>\n<p>In total, 11 fire trucks with 55 personnel worked to extinguish the\nblaze, and to speed up the process, they were assisted by one excavator\nfrom the Water Resources Sub-Department (SDA) to break up the rubbish\npiles so the fire would not spread again.<\/p>\n<p>The fire was finally extinguished in the afternoon around 17:21\nWIB.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, hot weather, strong winds, and the vast area posed\nthe main challenges on the ground.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe chronology of this fire started from rubbish that was burned and\nthen spread, becoming larger,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) reminded\nthe public in the capital that burning rubbish indiscriminately could\nresult in a fine of Rp500,000.<\/p>\n<p>The Head of the Air Pollution and Environmental Damage Control\nDivision of the DKI Jakarta Environmental Agency (DLH), Erni Pelita\nFitratunnisa, said the sanction is stipulated in Regional Regulation\nNo.\u00a04 of 2019 on Waste Management.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRubbish is one source of air pollution, especially if uncontrolled\nrubbish burning is carried out.
