Gulf Indonesia finds gas<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): The state-owned oil and gas company and its
\ncontractor Gulf Indonesia Resources Ltd of Canada announced
\nyesterday the discovery of a natural gas reserve on the
\nproduction-sharing contract-area Block B, southern Jambi.<\/p>\n
The Bungin-1 exploratory well situated on the southern part of
\nthe Block-B contract area was flowing at 34 million cubic feet
\n(MMCF) of gas per day from a depth of 2,925 meters to 2,940
\nmeters, 2,555 meters to 2,576 meters, and 2,181 meters to 2,188
\nmeters, Pertamina's spokesman Ramli Djaafar said in statement
\nsent to The Jakarta Post yesterday.<\/p>\n
Two upper zones of the gas reserve channel gas containing 18
\npercent CO2.<\/p>\n
Ramli said an appraisal well would be built in the second half
\nof the year.<\/p>\n
He said the Bungin-1 well was about 14 kilometers west of the
\nRayun-1 gas well whose gas discovery was announced last month.<\/p>\n
Natural gas reserves were also discovered at the Bungkal well
\n13 kilometers south of Bungin-1.<\/p>\n
Ramli said the gas discoveries at Bungin-1, Rayun-1 and
\nBungkal could be developed through several scenarios to supply
\nthe area's gas pipelines 16 kilometers to the east. (jsk)<\/p>",
