Guess What: Ully Sigar Rusady<\/p>\n
Happiness, pride, restless and sadness were all in singer and
\nenvironmentalist Ully Sigar Rusady when she received a
\nprestigious state award for her contributions in the environment
\npreservation.<\/p>\n
\"Of course, I was happy. But I was also sad because of the
\ncritical condition of our environment,\" she told The Jakarta Post
\non Wednesday.<\/p>\n
A day earlier Vice President Megawati Soekarnoputri, on behalf
\nof President Abdurrahman Wahid, gave her the Bintang Jasa Pratama
\nfor her efforts to preserve the environment through various
\nactivities including the Pandu Lingkungan Indonesia (Indonesian
\nEnvironment Drive), and her songs.<\/p>\n
\"I can create the programs, but they won't work without the
\nsupport from all my friends,\" said Ully, 48, the chairwoman of
\nGaruda Nusantara Foundation.<\/p>\n
Ully, whose real name is Rulany Indra Gartika Rusady
\nWirahaditenaya, in 1985 set up the foundation that aims to
\nencourage young people the environment conservation.<\/p>\n
A talented singer who has recorded a number of albums with
\ntheme of environment, she is dubbed the Indonesian Joan Baez.
