"What do you call the word 'development' in bahasa Indonesia,
\nperkembangan or pengembangan," asked Robert Smith, of the U.S.
\nCommercial and Information Center, to his Indonesian colleague
\nMelink Simanjuntak.<\/p>\n
"I keep practicing my bahasa Indonesia in almost every
\noccasion," claimed Smith, who is more popularly known as 'Pak
\nBob' by his employees and local reporters.<\/p>\n
He admitted that he only took a short course on bahasa before
\nhe left for Indonesia, "I just attended a 36-week course on
\nbahasa Indonesia, that's why I still cannot master the bahasa,
\nwhich has such an abundant vocabulary."<\/p>\n
Having been in his current position as center director of the
\nU.S. Commercial and Information Center for three years has
\nenabled him to widely practice his bahasa with a large number of
\nprominent Indonesian people, including government officials,
\nbusinessmen, scientists and media people.<\/p>\n
"But still, I find difficulties in using prefixes and
