Guess What? Putu Wijaya<\/p>\n
It would appear that the issue of disintegration is not only
\ngiving headaches to top politicians, but also noted theater actor
\nand director Putu Wijaya. And he is planning to use his talent to
\ndiscuss the issue.<\/p>\n
In January next year, he will begin production of Nyanyian
\nLaut (The Singing of the Sea), the work of scriptwriter Budiati
\nAbiyoga.<\/p>\n
\"The film is about humanity. It's about a person, who became a
\nvictim in the mass chaos in the past, but legally he is ignored,\"
\nPutu said in his house in the Cirende area, close to Bogor.<\/p>\n
He said that he believed that if more attention was paid to
\nissues about humanity, there would be unity instead of
\ndisintegration.<\/p>\n
\"I believe our people still watch Indonesian films as long as
\nthey have good campaigns, good promotions. Garin Nugroho proves
\nhe can do it. People watch (his movies). Also Kuldesak,\" said
\nPutu, referring to distinguished director Garin's successful
\nmovie Daun Di atas Bantal (A Leaf on a Pillow).<\/p>\n
Apart from work on big screen films, he is currently working
\non three TV series: Kemerdekaan dalam Merdeka (Independent within
\nIndependence), Jembatan Emas (Golden Bridge) and Musuh yang Tak
\nNampak (Unseen Enemy) as requested by the Department of Education
\nand Culture. The series also focus on issues of humanity and
\ndisintegration.<\/p>\n
For his TV series, Putu hopes they will be aired by private TV
\nstations. He said his previous film about reading habits did not
\ngain much attention because it was aired by state TV station
\nTVRI.<\/p>\n
