Guess What? Jay Subiakto<\/p>\n
When are artists no longer content with creating and
\nperforming? When the country needs everyone to take part, said
\nJay Subiakto, video clip artist and music producer now working
\nwith the Guruh Soekarnoputra dancing company. Jay and his
\ncolleagues, mostly dressed in black, were found in the lobby of
\nthe House of Representatives Tuesday, then overflowing with
\nthousands of students. And was he sure that other artists or
\ncelebrities would follow suit and show their support for the tide
\nof reform?<\/p>\n
"We tried having a tahlilan (prayer session) for the fallen
\nstudents of Trisakti (University), but many of us went home," he
\nsaid, adding that many of his friends were worried about their
\nfamilies if they attended such activities. "Many are still
\nhesitant," said Jay, who has flowing hair and was wearing
\nplatform shoes.<\/p>\n
Insisting that he and his friends were not representing any
\ngroup but "the people of Indonesia", Jay said that despite such
\njustifiable concerns of his fellow artists, the reform movement
\n"depends on individuals and their idealism" which would lead them
\nto be a little more courageous when needed. (anr)<\/p>",
