Harp lovers in Indonesia will be happy to hear there will be a
\nnew generation of harpists in the future.<\/p>\n
That is in large part thanks to harpist Heidi Awuy, who is
\nteaching the instrument to five people ranging in age from 5 to
\n50 at her Bina Bakat Belia music school in South Jakarta.<\/p>\n
The mother of four admitted it was not easy to build people's
\ninterest in the harp because of the instrument's scarcity in the
\ncountry.<\/p>\n
\"I have three harps at home, all of them are used for the
\nteaching,\" she said, adding that one of her children also played
\nthe harp.<\/p>\n
So far, Heidi said, there are only three professional harpists
\nin Indonesia. \"The condition is actually better compared to
\nneighboring countries like Malaysia and Singapore,\" she added.<\/p>\n
Her music school is not a special school for the harp. \"We
\nalso teach other instruments like piano, trumpet, recorder and
\nguitar,\" she said during the launch of the book Reformasi dalam
\nPenegakan Hukum (Reform in Law Enforcement) by Antonius Sujata at
\nthe National Archives Building in Central Jakarta last week.(ind)<\/p>",
