Guess What? Harry de Fretes<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Comedian Harry de Fretes, popularly called by
\nthe nickname of Boim, is optimistic that his newly-opened dining
\nestablishment called "Boim Cafe" in Tanah Kusir district, South
\nJakarta, will gain success.<\/p>\n
"Abroad, many cafes with comedy shows can be successful. Why
\nnot here?" he told The Jakarta Post last Sunday during the
\nrestaurant's grand opening.<\/p>\n
Upon seeing that the cafe is decorated in the Betawi manner
\nwith a lot of pictures of famous Betawi figures hung on the wall,
\nmany people, said Boim, may assume that his cafe is selling
\nBetawi culture in the sense that it serves only Betawi cuisine.
\nor puts on only Betawi performances.<\/p>\n
"This cafe is in principle similar to any other cafe, where
\nyou can also ask for burgers, for example. Its speciality is that
\nit is selling comedy shows in the first place," said Boim, who
\nbecame a prominent figure in the Indonesian "business of
\nlaughter" after his successful TV comedy series Lenong Rumpi,
\nwhich was aired on RCTI several years ago.<\/p>\n
Boim proudly calls his unique cafe "the first comedy cafe in
\nIndonesia."<\/p>\n
According to the schedule, the country's most noted comedians
\nwill perform there regularly every Saturday, while comedy
\ncontests are also on the agenda.<\/p>\n
Time will show if Boim's novel idea is a failure or a success.
\nAt least, the around 100 guests that attended the grand opening,
\nincluding dozens of film and TV stars and Minister of Youth and
