Guess What? Harry Darsono<\/p>\n
There will be no lavish birthday party for famous designer
\nHarry Darsono who turns 49 on March 15.<\/p>\n
"I am going to spend my birthday with several close friends,
\norphans and street children in Yogyakarta," said Harry, who left
\nfor Yogyakarta with a number of foreign diplomats, scholars and
\nbusinessmen by train last Saturday.<\/p>\n
"I read a book by Emanuel Subangun about the worst-off kids in
\nYogyakarta and I was deeply touched by his story," said Harry,
\nwho admitted that he could not finish reading Subangun's book.<\/p>\n
He visited Yogyakarta to show his well-to-do friends and
\naffluent clients that there are so many poor children who badly
\nneed their help.<\/p>\n
While in Yogyakarta, Harry plans to meet with Sultan Hamengku
\nBuwono X and a number of artists, including painter Kartika
\nAffandi and batik designer Ardianto.<\/p>\n
At present, Harry is involved with a number of foundations
\nwhich deal with such issues as children's education, unemployed
\nyouth and the poor.<\/p>\n
"I'm sort of amphibious, living in two different worlds. I
\ntake money from the rich and give it to the needy," Harry said.
