Guess What? AM Fatwa<\/p>\n
Political reporters who were busy covering the latest news in
\nthe House of Representatives\/People's Consultative Assembly
\n(DPR\/MPR) building on Thursday sensed something unusual when the
\nNational Mandate Party (PAN) deputy chairman, AM Fatwa, called a
\nnews conference.<\/p>\n
This time Fatwa was not accompanied by other party executives,
\nbut by the parents of the "queen of ecstasy", Zarima Mirafsur.<\/p>\n
And this time, Fatwa did not talk about President Abdurrahman
\nWahid's overseas trips or his alleged involvement in the Bulog
\nand Brunei financial scandals.<\/p>\n
Instead, Fatwa announced that the party will sue GAMMA weekly
\nfor libel because of a story alluding to intimate relations
\nbetween Zarima and PAN chairman Amien Rais in its latest issue.<\/p>\n
In the article, titled "The Alluring Body of Zarima and
\nPolitical Terror", the magazine claimed that, during the General
\nSession of the MPR in October 1999 Zarima and Amien Rais both
\nstayed at the Mulia Hotel and that at one point she contacted
\nAmien Rais there, Antara reported.<\/p>\n
According to Fatwa, the article went so far as implying that
\nAmien Rais and Zarima eventually developed a relationship so
\nclose that it resulted in the birth of a baby, Nikita
\nChairunnisa.<\/p>\n
Fatwa stressed there was a malicious conspiracy among certain
\nparties who had used the magazine to conduct a character
\nassassination of Amien Rais. "It is alluded to that Zarima's baby
\nwas fathered by Amien Rais. A very malicious conspiracy," he
\nsaid.<\/p>\n
According to Fatwa, he had consulted both Amien Rais and
\nZarima, who outrightly rejected the magazine's article as
\nnonsense.<\/p>",
