Guard against Indian crooks<\/p>\n
I read with interest the letter from Mr. Lalu Mara Satria
\nWangsa (The Jakarta Post, March 29, 1995), regarding two men,
\nclaiming to be from India, who robbed them of 3.5 million rupiah.
\nMy house was robbed by two Indians when my wife and I were away
\nin India by using a similar ruse with our maid.<\/p>\n
With due apologies, the hypnotism theory is rubbish. I find
\nmost Indonesians trusting and polite and a gang of Indian crooks
\nis taking full advantage of this. These unsavory elements are
\nobviously long term residents in this country. They know the
\nlanguage well and operate as professional crooks.<\/p>\n
I am embarrassed that, as an Indian guest in this country,
\nthese crooks are giving the community a bad name. I would
\nrecommend that the full details of any such incident is reported
\nto the nearest police station and I do hope these fellows are
\ncaught and thrown into jail.<\/p>\n
Finally, a warning to my Indonesian friends. Hypnotism is all
\nrubbish and I have never heard of any such thing in India. These
\nfellows are plain confidence tricksters and people should be on
\nguard any time suspicious looking Indians come calling with a
\ncock-and-bull story!<\/p>\n
