Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa assured the DPR's Commission XI that the 2026 state budget is robust enough to keep subsidised fuel prices stable through the end of the year, even with average crude oil prices at US$100 per barrel amid global volatility from conflicts involving the US, Israel, and Iran. His statement, which exceeds the budget's macroeconomic assumption of US$70 per barrel, was met with applause and a thumbs-up from lawmakers, reinforcing public confidence in fiscal resilience. Purbaya dismissed circulating rumours of imminent budget exhaustion, emphasising detailed preparations to avert any fiscal risks or public unrest.

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa
received a round of applause from Commission XI DPR members when he
stated that the 2026 state budget is strong enough to ensure that
subsidised fuel prices will not rise, despite average crude oil prices
reaching US$100 until the end of this year.

He explained that, with the highly volatile global crude oil prices
due to the war between the United States (US) and Israel with Iran, and
exceeding the 2026 state budget’s macroeconomic assumption of US$70 per
barrel, the budget’s resilience remains very strong with layered
safeguards sufficient to compensate for the pressures.

“We are prepared not to raise them until the end of the year for
subsidised fuel, yes, sir,” said Purbaya in the Commission XI meeting
room, DPR, Jakarta, on Monday (6/4/2026).

After delivering that statement, Purbaya was immediately rewarded
with applause from the commission’s leaders and members. He was even
given full support with a thumbs-up symbol to continue maintaining
fiscal resilience.

“So, people outside don’t need to fuss or be afraid; we’ve already
calculated it, sir. Got a thumbs-up, sir; this is thanks to Commission
XI’s support as well, so we can have open discussions,” he
emphasised.

Purbaya also stressed that all statements discrediting the
government’s ability to manage the state budget are untrue, based on
detailed calculations to anticipate fiscal risks.

“Because there are rumours circulating that it will run out in two
months, or two weeks, or at most it will rise in July, then there will
be chaos in July, whereas we’ve prepared it until the end of the year
with the assumption of an average US$100 per barrel; we’re still strong
with the existing budget,” said Purbaya.
",
