GT Petrochem adopts e-business system<\/p>\n

In a bid to increase efficiency, polyester manufacturer PT GT
\nPetrochem Tbk has begun to implement Oracle's electronic
\nintegrated business solution.<\/p>\n
The company, which makes polyester and products used for
\ntextile production such as mono-ethylene glycol and polyester
\nfilament, signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to use
\nOracle's E-Business Suite with PT Oracle Indonesia recently.<\/p>\n
\"This agreement is based on the fact that the company is
\noperating in a competitive manufacturing sector. This kind of IT
\nsolution is expected to improve services to the customers and
\nstakeholders,\" GT Petrochem commissioner Bacelius Ruru said.<\/p>\n
The E-Business Suite is an integrated system of core business
\napplications that streamlines business processes, such as
\nfinancial, purchasing, inventory management, order management,
\nmanufacturing and sales force operations.<\/p>\n
Application modules of the solution include Enterprise
\nResource Planning (ERP) and Supply Chain Management (SCM).<\/p>\n
GT Petrochem financial director Irene Chen said the company
\nhad invested US$3 million into the ERP and SCM.<\/p>\n
\"We hope the investment will help increase our company's
\nrevenue from last year's of around Rp 4.5 trillion (US$477
\nmillion),\" Irene said.<\/p>\n
The full implementation of the ERP and SCM modules, which
\nstarted in March, was scheduled to be completed by the beginning
\nof next year.<\/p>\n
\"The first phase of the implementation is for finance and
\nsupply,\" she said. \"The second, which is for manufacturing
\nincluding basic planning and production, hopefully will start in
\n2007.\"<\/p>\n
PT Oracle Indonesia managing director Adi Rusli said the
\nimplementation of the module on finance -- which included five
\nsub-modules on accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash
\nmanagement, fixed assets and a general ledger -- would take about
\nnine months to install depending on the scope of the business.<\/p>\n
Adi said this year 19 firms had implemented Oracle's IT
\nsolutions.<\/p>\n
Oracle, which controls the largest IT solutions market share
\nin North America, provides business solutions for small and
\nmedium enterprises (SME) to help improve their business
\noperations, reduce costs and ensure profitability. (001)<\/p>",
