        "content": "<p>Two individuals riding a motorcycle were victims of a machete attack\nby a group in a car in the Gose area, Bantul. The victims, who are\nstudents, sustained machete wounds to their heads and backs.<\/p>\n<p>The Head of Public Relations for the Bantul Police, Inspector Rita\nHidayton, stated that the incident began when the victims and their\nfriends were returning from a friend\u2019s house in Kayen, Sendangsari,\nPajangan, Bantul, on Saturday (1\/8) at approximately 02:00 WIB. The\nvictims and their group had stopped at the Palbapang petrol station to\nrefuel.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter purchasing fuel, the victims and their group continued their\njourney north,\u201d said Rita when contacted on Tuesday (1\/9\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>Upon reaching the Palbapang intersection, a Toyota Avanza and a\nYamaha Aerox motorcycle pulled alongside the victims\u2019 group.\nFurthermore, the unidentified group challenged the victims\u2019 group to a\nconfrontation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe victims\u2019 group then engaged in a chase towards the Gose area.\nOnce in Gose, the passenger in the Avanza opened the window and swung a\nsickle (celurit) towards the victims riding the motorcycle,\u201d she\nexplained.<\/p>\n<p>As a result of the attack, one victim sustained a wound to the head,\nwhile their companion suffered a wound to the upper right part of the\nback.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe attackers then fled, and the victims and their companion were\ntaken to the nearest hospital for medical treatment. The victim required\nten stitches,\u201d she added, noting that the victims are students.<\/p>\n<p>After receiving medical treatment, the victims reported the incident\nto the Bantul Police on Monday (3\/8). Following the report, the police\nconducted an investigation and apprehended several individuals involved\nin the group.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom the investigation, the findings pointed to one primary\nperpetrator, MRA (26), a resident of Bangunjiwo, Kasihan, Bantul. MRA\nwas secured yesterday, Monday (31\/8),\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Rita added that the police also conducted a search of MRA\u2019s\nresidence. As a result, the police discovered several sharp weapons.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe evidence seized includes three sickles suspected to be related\nto the assault on the victims. Additionally, a sword was also found,\u201d\nshe stated.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, Rita continued, the police are still conducting further\ninvestigations into the case. MRA is currently being held in custody at\nthe Bantul Police Station.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe perpetrator is facing charges of assault as stipulated in\nArticle 466 of Law Number 1 of 2023 regarding the Criminal Code (KUHP),\u201d\nshe concluded.<\/p>",
