        "content": "<p>The acceleration of the energy transition towards a cleaner\nelectricity system does not solely depend on the construction of new\nrenewable energy (NRE) power plants, but also requires a transmission\nnetwork capable of connecting energy sources with centres of electricity\ndemand. Without adequate transmission infrastructure, the potential of\nclean energy scattered across various regions will be difficult to\nutilise optimally. This issue was a key focus of a dissemination seminar\ntitled \u2018Engineering Development Roadmap for Green Transmission in\nSupporting Accelerated Renewable Energy Development\u2019. The forum brought\ntogether government, academics, PLN, technology providers, and industry\nplayers to discuss the readiness of Indonesia\u2019s transmission system to\nsupport the accelerated use of renewable energy. Dermawan Wibisono, Head\nof the Green Transmission Engineering Roadmap Study Team, stated that\nthe ambitious energy transition targets must be translated into a clear\nroadmap, covering technology choices, implementation stages, investment\nneeds, and human resource capacity building. \u201cWe signed the Paris\nAgreement in 2015 and Indonesia is targeting Net Zero Emission by 2060.\nHowever, to get there, we must determine which technologies are most\nappropriate and need to be implemented immediately,\u201d Dermawan said.\nAccording to him, the roadmap is an important instrument to ensure the\nenergy transition targets do not stop at being a commitment but are\ntruly realised through measurable steps. \u201cWe often convey grand goals,\nbut how to achieve them is what must be detailed,\u201d he said. Dermawan\nexplained that Indonesia\u2019s challenge lies not only in the magnitude of\nits renewable energy potential but also in the distribution of its\nenergy sources, which are located far from electricity consumption\ncentres. Solar energy potential is abundant in eastern Indonesia,\ngeothermal is spread across various regions, while other energy sources\nare also located in different areas. This condition makes the\ntransmission system a very decisive element for the success of the\nenergy transition. \u201cOur energy potential is scattered across various\nregions. Therefore, transmission technology capable of connecting all\nthese energy sources to load centres is needed,\u201d he said. One technology\nconsidered to have great prospects is High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC)\nfor long-distance transmission and inter-island interconnection.\nAccording to Dermawan, this technology is worth preparing given\nIndonesia\u2019s characteristics as an archipelagic nation. \u201cWe want to\nimprove the efficiency of the transmission system. This requires\ncollaboration between the government, the private sector, technology\nproviders, and experts in Indonesia,\u201d he said. However, he cautioned\nthat the development of green transmission does not depend solely on\ntechnology. The biggest challenges lie in the need for substantial\ninvestment and the readiness of human resources. \u201cTransmission requires\nvery large costs and cannot be undertaken alone. Therefore, we need to\nlearn from the best practices of other countries while preparing\nIndonesian human resources to master the technology,\u201d he said. From\nPLN\u2019s perspective, the development of green transmission is seen as a\nmain component in building a future electricity system that is more\nreliable and capable of accommodating the increased use of renewable\nenergy. Buyung Sofiarto Munir, Vice President of Transmission and\nDistribution Technology and Engineering at PT PLN (Persero), said the\ntransmission network plays a role in connecting regions with renewable\nenergy potential to areas that are centres of electricity consumption.\n\u201cGreen transmission is the link between areas rich in renewable energy\nsources and electricity load centres,\u201d he said. He added that the\nelectricity system must also be able to anticipate the intermittent\nnature of renewable energy generators, such as solar and wind power,\nthus requiring a more flexible network supported by digital technology.\n\u201cRenewable energy is not always available at all times. The challenge is\nhow the system can still reliably supply electricity to the public,\u201d he\nsaid. According to Buyung, the engineering roadmap serves as a strategic\nguide in determining the direction of transmission technology\ndevelopment, digitalisation, and future smart grid construction. \u201cThe\nengineering roadmap is a compass for PLN in determining the future\ndirection of transmission system development,\u201d he said. He emphasised\nthat transmission system planning must be carried out comprehensively,\nconsidering the location of power plants, electricity demand growth,\nindustrial estates, data centres, system reliability, operational\nsecurity aspects, and investment economics. \u201cWith careful planning, the\ninvestments made will truly provide benefits for the national\nelectricity system,\u201d he said. In line with the agenda of strengthening\nthe national electricity system, PLN Enjiniring is also entering a new\nchapter through a change in its board of directors, which is expected to\naccelerate the company\u2019s transformation. Anita Widyiastuti, Corporate\nSecretary of PLN Enjiniring, said the leadership change is a strategic\nmomentum to strengthen corporate governance while enhancing PLN\nEnjiniring\u2019s role as an engineering consulting company in supporting the\ndevelopment of electricity infrastructure and the national energy\ntransition. Based on the shareholders\u2019 decision, the new board of\ndirectors consists of Handy Wihartady as President Director, Ardhi\nTartahadi as Director of Marketing and Business Development, Warsono as\nDirector of Engineering, and Martono as Director of Finance, Risk\nManagement, and Human Capital. According to Anita, the company will\ncontinue to strengthen its position as an Engineering Excellence Centre\nwithin the PLN Group by providing engineering solutions.<\/p>",
