JAKARTA \u2014 Graphologist Gusti Aju Dewi has stated that the letter\nfound alongside an abandoned baby discovered in a rice porridge cart in\nthe Pejaten Barat area of Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta, was written by a\nsingle person.<\/p>\n
Nevertheless, Gusti observed several minor variations in pressure and\nwriting style throughout the letter.<\/p>\n
\u201cI found small changes in the document, but there are no\ngraphological indicators suggesting a different writer,\u201d Gusti explained\nto Kompas.com on Tuesday (10 March 2026).<\/p>\n
According to Gusti\u2019s analysis, the handwriting does possess\ncharacteristics typical of a child aged 10 to 13 years, including\nunstable writing rhythm, inconsistent spacing between words and letters,\nvarying slant, and uneven pen pressure.<\/p>\n
However, she emphasised that such characteristics can also be found\nin adults unaccustomed to writing. \u201cFor example, someone who has rarely\nwritten since childhood or performed mostly physical labour using large\nmuscle groups may have writing that appears untrained, despite being an\nadult,\u201d Gusti explained.<\/p>\n
Gusti further noted that a single handwritten document cannot\nconclusively determine a person\u2019s age.<\/p>\n
The abandoned baby, wrapped in clothing and a blue blanket, was\npreviously discovered in a black shopping bag placed on a rice porridge\ncart at the end of a narrow lane on Jalan Pejaten Raya, Pasar Minggu,\nSouth Jakarta, on Tuesday (3 March 2026).<\/p>\n
The baby\u2019s cries were initially heard by a local resident named Dinda\n(20), who was on the second floor of her home. She located the source\nand found the shopping bag containing the infant and her belongings.\nDinda called her mother to secure the baby indoors before contacting\nauthorities.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe witness checked inside the shopping bag and discovered a baby\ngirl lying on her side, wearing a blue teddy bear outfit and covered\nwith a baby blanket,\u201d said Pasar Minggu Police Sector Chief Kompol\nAnggiat Sinambela in his statement Tuesday.<\/p>\n
A note inside indicated the newborn girl, given the initials AR, was\nborn on Monday (2 March 2026).<\/p>\n
The letter appeared to be written by the child\u2019s older brother,\nidentified with the initials Z (12), who stated their mother had died.\nThe letter read: \u201cAssalamu alaikum, Sir or Madam who found my sister, I\nam Zidan asking for your help to care for my sister, because my mother\ndied during childbirth, please treat her as your own child, because I\nwill not be able to find or visit her again, I do not want her future to\nbe like mine, Thank you.\u201d<\/p>\n
The infant was subsequently transferred to Pasar Minggu Health Centre\nfor medical care.
