Tangerang, CNN Indonesia \u2013 The Tangerang City branch leadership of\nthe Ansor Youth Movement (GP Ansor) affirmed that it accepts the apology\nfrom suspect Bahar bin Smith regarding the alleged assault case.\nHowever, GP Ansor stipulated that Bahar must still be held accountable\nfor his actions through the full legal process. GP Ansor Tangerang City\nalso delivered an open message to National Police Chief Gen.\u00a0Listyo\nSigit Prabowo, President Prabowo Subianto, and the House of\nRepresentatives to give special attention to the handling of the\ncase.<\/p>\n
Bahar Smith\u2019s apology, along with three other suspects, was\npreviously conveyed through a recorded video. In the video, they\nexpressed their apologies to the victims and GP Ansor Tangerang City for\nthe assault they committed.<\/p>\n
Tangerang City GP Ansor Branch Chairman Midyani said his organization\naccepts the apology on the condition that the suspects still undergo\nlegal proceedings in accordance with applicable regulations. He stressed\nthat there is no room for resolution through restorative justice\nmechanisms in this case.<\/p>\n
\u201cRegarding Bahar Smith and associates\u2019 request, GP Ansor Tangerang\nCity\u2019s stance is to forgive on one condition: Bahar bin Smith must first\nbe held accountable for his actions by undergoing the applicable legal\nprocess in Indonesia,\u201d Midyani firmly stated on Friday (2\/13).<\/p>\n
According to Midyani, the victims and GP Ansor want the case resolved\nthrough the legal system until all perpetrators serve their sentences.\nHe also highlighted the lack of significant progress in the case\nhandling since the report was filed in September 2025.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think if the Tangerang City Police are no longer capable of\nhandling this case, just hand it over to the Regional Police or National\nPolice Headquarters,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Additionally, Midyani said the decision to suspend the suspects\u2019\ndetention has caused disappointment among the victims and their\nsupporters. He hopes police authorities will give more serious attention\nto the case.<\/p>\n
