        "content": "<p>One of the ministry\u2019s initiatives is the provision of fiber optic\nnetwork training for SMK students in Medan, North Sumatra, as part of\nthe government\u2019s strategy to expand internet access while creating new\nemployment opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the future, we want fiber optic networks in various regions to no\nlonger depend on workers being deployed from Java or other areas,\u201d\nMinister of Communication and Digital Affairs Meutya Hafid said during a\nFiber Optic Network Training program for students at SMK Multi Karya in\nMedan, North Sumatra, on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>According to the minister, demand for skilled workers in the digital\ninfrastructure sector will continue to increase as society becomes more\nreliant on internet connectivity.<\/p>\n<p>She cited data showing that Indonesians spend an average of eight\nhours online each day. Of the country\u2019s approximately 230 million\ninternet users, around 60-70 percent are young people.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYoung people are the largest users of this technology. Therefore, we\nhope they will not only become technology users but also play a role in\nmaintaining the infrastructure that supports connectivity,\u201d she\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>Hafid emphasized that the government remains committed to expanding\ninternet connectivity to areas that still have limited access to digital\nservices.<\/p>\n<p>As telecommunications networks continue to expand, the need for\nskilled workers capable of installing, repairing, and maintaining\ntelecommunications infrastructure will also grow, she added.<\/p>\n<p>The government aims to increase fixed broadband penetration to 50\npercent of the population during the 2025\u20132029 period.
