Govt to improve bureaucracy<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: In response to President Megawati Soekarnoputri's
\nremarks on the poor quality of bureaucrats, the Minister of
\nAdministrative Reforms office is currently in the process of
\ndrafting a new working concept for the state apparatus.<\/p>\n
Speaking to the press after reporting the plan to Vice
\nPresident Hamzah Haz, State Minister of Administrative Reforms
\nFeisal Tamin said on Tuesday that necessary steps would be taken
\nto alter the current working attitude of state apparatus to a
\nmore efficient and productive manner.<\/p>\n
\"The President has insinuated that our apparatus lacks
\nquality, professionalism and drive. This must be addressed in
\norder to have a dedicated and spirited bureaucracy,\" he said,
\nwithout disclosing the details of the concept.<\/p>\n
In February, Megawati resembled the bureaucracy to a \"trash
\ncan\" and urged the civil servants to be in tune with people's
