        "content": "<p>Govt to hold maritime activities<\/p>\n<p>AMBON, Maluku: The Indonesian government is to hold a series<br>\nof maritime activities, topped by a maritime expo in Bitung<br>\ndistrict, North Sulawesi, as part of celebrations to commorate<br>\nthe United Nations&apos; International Maritime Year.<\/p>\n<p>A national ad-hoc committee has decided that the expo will be<br>\nheld on Sept. 24, according to the head of administration at the<br>\nNational Institute of Sciences&apos; (LIPI) oceanology research and<br>\ndevelopment center, Ambon Heryanto.<\/p>\n<p>He said activities, under the theme of &quot;The Sea -- Challenges,<br>\nChances and Expectations&quot;, will be jointly carried out by the<br>\nNavy, the Agency for Assessment and Application of Technology<br>\n(BPPT), and LIPI.<\/p>\n<p>Antara reported that activities will include a national<br>\nmaritime seminar in Ujungpandang, South Sulawesi, a national<br>\nseminar on marine biotechnology and an international workshop on<br>\nthe Western Pacific in Manado, North Sulawesi, and a national<br>\nscience and technology jamboree in Bitung.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, expeditions will be carried out by the research<br>\nvessels Baruna Jaya IV, VII and VIII and fish stocks will be<br>\nassessed in the Banda Sea.<\/p>",
