Govt to form anti-trafficking team<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: The government said on Friday that it would form a
\nnational committee to tackle women and child trafficking problems
\nin the country.<\/p>\n
State Minister of Women's Empowerment Sri Redjeki Sumaryoto
\nsaid that the committee would handle cases like baby peddling or
\nsexual exploitation of the country's female migrant workers.<\/p>\n
She said that in the past year, her office had received 281
\nreports of violations of children and women's rights such as
\nphysical abuse, rape, sexual harassment, child trafficking and
\nchild labor.<\/p>\n
Members of the committee would include representatives of the
\nIndonesian Military and National Police, the Attorney General's
\nOffice, the immigration office and other related institutions.<\/p>\n
The committee would be overseen by the office of the
\ncoordinating minister for peoples' welfare. --Antara<\/p>",
