        "content": "<p>Govt still debating salary hike<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA: The government has yet to decide on the planned<br>\nsalary increase for civil servants next year as related<br>\nauthorities are still making calculations, a minister said.<\/p>\n<p>\"We are still discussing the increase,\" State Minister of<br>\nAdministrative Reforms Taufik Effendi said on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Starting next year, the lowest salary for civil servants will<br>\nbe raised to at least Rp 1 million (about US$100) per month,<br>\nslightly higher than the minimum regional wage in the<br>\nmanufacturing sector of Rp 800,000, Taufik said.<\/p>\n<p>The government has announced a plan to raise the salary of<br>\ncivil servants next year in a bid to help improve their welfare<br>\nas well as to help prevent corruption. -- JP<\/p>",
