Govt still debating salary hike<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: The government has yet to decide on the planned
\nsalary increase for civil servants next year as related
\nauthorities are still making calculations, a minister said.<\/p>\n
\"We are still discussing the increase,\" State Minister of
\nAdministrative Reforms Taufik Effendi said on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Starting next year, the lowest salary for civil servants will
\nbe raised to at least Rp 1 million (about US$100) per month,
\nslightly higher than the minimum regional wage in the
\nmanufacturing sector of Rp 800,000, Taufik said.<\/p>\n
The government has announced a plan to raise the salary of
\ncivil servants next year in a bid to help improve their welfare
\nas well as to help prevent corruption. -- JP<\/p>",
