Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration and\nCorrections Yusril Ihza Mahendra stated that efforts will be carried out\nthrough diplomatic and legal means, in conjunction with various\ninternational third parties.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe public is deeply concerned and regrets the actions of the\nIsraeli military against Indonesian citizens, especially journalists who\ncrossed international waters to carry out humanitarian activities to\nhelp victims of the conflict in Gaza,\u201d Mahendra stated on Tuesday<\/p>\n
He revealed that the government is still having difficulty contacting\nthe three journalists who are currently being held in custody.<\/p>\n
The detained media members have been identified as Bambang Noroyono\nand Thoudy Badai from Republika, along with Andre Prasetyo Nugroho from\nTempo.<\/p>\n
He added that the Foreign Affairs Ministry had taken proactive steps\nto seek information on their exact whereabouts and secure their\nrelease.<\/p>\n
The Indonesian government faces immense obstacles because it does not\nmaintain diplomatic relations with Israel, making it unable to conduct\ndirect negotiations.<\/p>\n
However, Mahendra added that the government is ensuring it will\ncontinue to pursue diplomatic and legal channels through alternative\nauthorities.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will certainly take diplomatic and legal measures through the\ngovernment and third parties to protect our citizens abducted by\nIsrael,\u201d he emphasized.<\/p>\n
Earlier, the Foreign Affairs Ministry confirmed that five of the nine\nIndonesians participating in the Gaza humanitarian mission have been\narrested.<\/p>\n
The ships carrying the five Indonesian journalists and activists were\nintercepted by Israeli forces on Monday during their voyage from Turkiye\nto Gaza.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile four other Indonesian citizens on two different ships are\ncontinuing their voyage around Cypriot waters.<\/p>\n
The ministry\u2019s spokesperson Yvonne Mewengkang stated that the\nsituation remains highly dynamic across the Mediterranean region.<\/p>\n
She warned that the other Indonesian citizens who successfully evaded\ninterception by Israeli forces yesterday are still at risk of being\ndetained.<\/p>\n
In light of these developments the ministry has coordinated with\nmultiple Indonesian embassies to prepare comprehensive measures for\nhandling the citizens.<\/p>\n
The diplomatic teams in Cairo, Rome, Amman, and Istanbul are working\ntogether to monitor the evolving situation.<\/p>\n
The Indonesian diplomatic missions are ready to issue Emergency\nPassports as replacement travel documents if their original passports\nare confiscated by authorities.<\/p>\n
Furthermore the foreign mission teams will provide medical support if\nnecessary to ensure the well-being of the citizens.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur representatives are also approaching local authorities to ensure\ntransit access so that the repatriation process for Indonesian citizens\ncan proceed without immigration obstacles,\u201d Mewengkang remarked.<\/p>\n
Furthermore Mewengkang said that Indonesian diplomatic missions will\ncontinue to monitor the situation and confirm the location and condition\nof the citizens.<\/p>\n
The spokesperson concluded that the embassies will prepare protective\nmeasures and immediately respond to notifications from local\nauthorities.<\/p>\n
