        "content": "<p>Govt official pushes for land reform<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA: A lack of coordination between government<br>\ninstitutions and conflicting legislation are to blame for current<br>\nunresolved land disputes in the country, an official says.<\/p>\n<p>Sujana Royat, the director of city planning and land reform at<br>\nthe National Planning and Development Body (Bappenas), said on<br>\nMonday only 10 percent of some 11,000 land disputes in Indonesia<br>\nhad been settled.<\/p>\n<p>\"It is because many bureaucrats in the country ignore<br>\nregulations that do not affect their respective institutions,\" he<br>\nsaid on the sidelines of a three-day international seminar on<br>\nland in Jakarta.<\/p>\n<p>The fact that Indonesia has 12 legislations on land, many of<br>\nwhich contradict each another, only makes the situation worse,<br>\nSujana said.<\/p>\n<p>This situation has opened the door for a growing land mafia,<br>\nhe said. -- Antara<\/p>",
