Govt must bail out bus firm: Iedil<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Minister of Transportation Haryanto Dhanutirto
\nhas been urged to help improve the management of state-owned bus
\ncompany PPD in a bid to increase the firm's profitability.<\/p>\n
H. Iedil Suryadi, a member of the House of Representatives,
\nwas quoted by Antara on Thursday as saying that the minister
\nshould act now as the company continues to suffer losses.<\/p>\n
\"The minister has to directly interfere in the management to
\nensure improvement as no one seems to pay attention to the
\ncompany's increasingly complicated problems,\" Iedil, of
\nCommission V for transportation and public works, said.<\/p>\n
The company's management needs to be carefully scrutinized
\nand, if necessary, stern action should be taken against those
\nfound guilty of misconduct, he said.<\/p>\n
\"If private companies can gain profits, why can't PPD when the
\nrequirements are about the same?\"<\/p>\n
As a state-owned company, PPD should be managed professionally
\nso it becomes a role model for other private companies, he said.<\/p>\n
Iedil expressed concern about the many complaints from the
\npublic about PPD's poor service, including the poor condition of
