\u201cThe government has just concluded a ministerial-level meeting\nmarking the ratification and handover of decrees granting operational\npermits for 25 new study programs, namely specialist doctor education\nprograms (PPDS), at primary teaching hospitals (RSPPU),\u201d he said at a\npress conference in Jakarta on Monday.<\/p>\n
He said the issuance of operational permits for the 25 new specialist\nmedical education programs followed President Prabowo Subianto\u2019s\ndirective and was part of his Astacita program.<\/p>\n
He added that the achievement reflected the government\u2019s efforts to\naddress bottlenecks that have hampered efforts to increase the number of\nspecialist doctors nationwide.<\/p>\n
These challenges included inconsistent regulations and competing\ninterests among relevant ministries and institutions.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn the last two months, we have successfully overcome regulatory and\nbureaucratic obstacles,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
According to Dudung, Deputy III of the Presidential Staff Office has\noverseen efforts to increase the number of specialist doctors since July\n2026.<\/p>\n
Previously, efforts to meet the country\u2019s need for specialist doctors\nhad faced a structural impasse due to differences in policies governing\nthe higher education and medical education ecosystems.<\/p>\n
In response to the issue, the Presidential Staff Office (KSP)\ncoordinated with the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and\nCultural Affairs to facilitate reconciliation by leading coordination\nmeetings and monitoring expert panel and plenary sessions.<\/p>\n
Dudung said the series of coordination and diplomatic efforts\nsuccessfully bridged differences between the Ministry of Health and the\nMinistry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology.<\/p>\n
As a result, 25 operational permits for PPDS programs were officially\nissued Monday as part of Phase I of the 2026 program.<\/p>\n
