        "content": "<p>Govt, House told to debate border law<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA: The National Resilience Institute (Lemhannas) will<br>\norganize a seminar on border issues in a bid to raise the need<br>\nfor the government and the House of Representatives to deliberate<br>\nlegislation on border areas.<\/p>\n<p>\"Problems in border areas continue to emerge because we do not<br>\nhave any legislation that protects our territory. That was the<br>\nreason why judges at the International Tribunal in The Hague<br>\nruled against us in the dispute over the Sipadan-Ligitan<br>\nislands,\" Lemhannas governor Ermaya Suradinata said.<\/p>\n<p>Malaysia was granted sovereignty over the two islands in 2002.<\/p>\n<p>Ermaya suggested that the government set up a bureau involving<br>\nthe related ministries to deal with border issues, including how<br>\nto make an agreement with neighboring countries.<\/p>\n<p>At least 10 islands are located on the border of Indonesia and<br>\nneighboring countries, which could potentially spark sovereignty<br>\ndisputes. -- JP<\/p>",
