        "content": "<p>Gov&apos;t acts on bus fare violators<\/p>\n<p>Jakarta (JP): The Director General of Land Transportation<br>\nSoejono imposed sanctions on the owners of 164 buses.<\/p>\n<p>He said the owners had violated a government rule on bus fare<br>\nincreases during the Idul Fitri holiday.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;The number of violators have increased since last year,&quot;<br>\nSoejono said yesterday, Antara reported.<\/p>\n<p>In one province, for instance, the Ministry of Transportation<br>\nhas imposed sanctions on 140 buses and 88 bus companies, compared<br>\nwith 78 buses and 55 companies last year.<\/p>\n<p>The sanctions, effective from April 8, are &quot;administrative,&quot;<br>\nwhich Soejono said consist mainly of operating permits being<br>\ntemporarily terminated and the suspension of rights to add bus<br>\nroutes.<\/p>\n<p>He added the sanctions were based on reports from the public,<br>\nprovincial ministry offices and provincial land transport<br>\nagencies.
