        "content": "<p>Governor wants extra troops in Maluku<\/p>\n<p>AMBON, Maluku: Maluku Governor Karel Albert Rahalalu has asked<br>\nthe Indonesian Military (TNI) to deploy an additional battalion<br>\nalong Maluku's borders to prevent outlying islands from being<br>\nclaimed by neighboring countries.<\/p>\n<p>\"We have to be alert. We have to keep the islands that we have<br>\nsecure, and not let them fall into the hands of other countries,\"<br>\nhe said on Thursday. He was apparently referring to the Sipadan<br>\nand Ligitan islands, which both Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur claimed<br>\nbut were awarded to Malaysia by an international tribunal.<\/p>\n<p>The current dispute between Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur over the<br>\nAmbalat oil blocks should also serve as a lesson, the governor<br>\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>He said Indonesia must be most vigilant with the islands of<br>\nLirang and Kambing, near the maritime border with East Timor, and<br>\nthe Wetar, Yamdena and Aru islands, near the maritime border with<br>\nAustralia.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, these islands are being monitored by just one<br>\nplatoon of soldiers. -- JP<\/p>",
