Kupang (ANTARA) - East Nusa Tenggara Governor Melki Laka Lena has\nasked the central government for support to send a ferry vessel serving\nthe Maumere\u2013Palue Island route in Sikka Regency, in order to smooth the\ndistribution of earthquake relief logistics.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith your permission, sir, if possible there could be one ferry that\ncan enter and continue serving the Sikka\u2013Palue route, because that is\nthe island most affected,\u201d he said in Kupang on Monday afternoon.<\/p>\n
He made the remarks during a limited meeting on the progress of\nnatural disaster response, held online with President Prabowo, several\nTNI-Polri leaders and seven regional heads in Flores affected by the\nearthquake.<\/p>\n
According to him, with a ferry in place, the distribution of aid to\nearthquake victims on the island could proceed smoothly.<\/p>\n
In response, President Prabowo immediately ordered that one ferry\nfrom ASDP be dispatched promptly to replace a vessel that is due to\nenter dry dock in the near future.<\/p>\n
Minister of Transport Dudy Purwagandhi said the ferry requested by\nthe East Nusa Tenggara Governor would be sent from Surabaya on Tuesday\n(8\/9).<\/p>\n
\u201cWith the President\u2019s permission, the ferry has been prepared, and as\nof the 8th it will be dispatched to the location as requested by the\nGovernor, from Surabaya,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
