        "content": "<p>Governor regrets trafficker release<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): Governor Sutiyoso expressed disappointment on<br>\nThursday over the release of an alleged drug trafficker recently<br>\narrested by residents of Kampung Bali in Tanah Abang, Central<br>\nJakarta.<\/p>\n<p>\"Why did it happen? We should not tolerate drug trafficking<br>\nany longer,\" Sutiyoso told reporters at City Hall.<\/p>\n<p>He expressed regret over the police's freeing of the suspect,<br>\nidentified as Rizky, saying police have not been serious in<br>\nfighting the drug trade.<\/p>\n<p>Deputy Governor for Social Affairs Djailani said separately<br>\nthe police should give an explanation for the release of the<br>\nsuspect.<\/p>\n<p>\"There should be an explanation for the release,\" he said.<\/p>\n<p>But Djailani said he did not expect the release of the suspect<br>\nwould weaken the people's enthusiasm in fighting against drugs.<\/p>\n<p>\"We must continue the war against drugs,\" he said.<\/p>\n<p>Angry residents of Kampung Bali threatened to burn a local<br>\npolice station on Tuesday after the police released Rizky, who<br>\nthey caught and handed over to the police last Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Tanah Abang Police, which has jurisdiction over Kampung Bali,<br>\nfreed Rizky on Monday evening, saying police had found no<br>\nevidence to prosecute Rizky.<\/p>\n<p>Rizky was arrested in the Kampung Bali neighborhood by<br>\nresidents last Saturday, upon information from a drug user who<br>\nsaid she had bought drugs from Rizky.<\/p>\n<p>Two of the drug users caught during a raid reportedly<br>\nconfessed that they bought shabu-shabu, locally made crystal<br>\nmethamphetamine, from Rizky.<\/p>\n<p>One of the users who made the confession, Nugroho Bayu, is a<br>\nstudent of the University of Indonesia.<\/p>\n<p>Sutiyoso earlier declared war against drug trafficking in the<br>\ncity. He expressed concern over reports that drug dealers had<br>\nextended their trade to selling to students of elementary<br>\nschools.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, city police chief Maj. Gen. Noegroho Djajoesman has<br>\nencouraged civilians to help the police with their crime-fighting<br>\nefforts.
