        "content": "<p>Source separation of waste will be strictly implemented in Bali to\noptimise the management of waste into electricity energy.<\/p>\n<p>Denpasar (ANTARA) - Bali Governor Wayan Koster signed a cooperation\nagreement for the construction of Waste-to-Energy Electricity (PSEL)\ninfrastructure with the central government in Jakarta.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis strategic waste management project is expected in the future to\nconvert waste into a source of renewable electricity energy, while also\nreducing the burden on the Suwung landfill and increasing energy\nresilience in Bali,\u201d said Governor Koster.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement from the Bali Provincial Government in Denpasar on\nWednesday, the signing, conducted with the PSEL Project Executing\nBusiness Entity (BUPP), was also attended by the Regent of Badung Wayan\nAdi Arnawa and the Mayor of Denpasar I Gusti Ngurah Jaya Negara,\nrepresenting the two regions that will utilise the PSEL facility.<\/p>\n<p>During the construction process, waste management in Bali will be\ntightened from the source, particularly the separation of organic\nwaste.<\/p>\n<p>To that end, on 31 July 2026, the Suwung landfill will once again be\nclosed to organic waste after receiving leniency last week allowing\norganic waste to enter twice a week. Only quality inorganic waste and\nresidue will be brought to the Suwung landfill as PSEL materials for the\nnext two years.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, Denpasar City has four TPSTs, namely TPST Kertalangu, TPST\nTahura I, TPST Tahura II, and TPST Padangsambian, as well as 23 TPS3R\nscattered across Badung and Denpasar.<\/p>\n<p>Gradually, such quality waste will be utilised to generate\nelectricity at PSEL, after which the Suwung landfill can be repurposed\nas green open space or a city park.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf this infrastructure begins to operate, it is hoped that the\nvolume of waste at the landfill will decrease by 70-90 percent, and\nwaste management in Bali will be carried out in a modern,\nenvironmentally friendly, and sustainable manner as a source of\nelectricity energy,\u201d he stated.<\/p>",
