Governor installs new regent in Buton<\/p>\n
KENDARI, Southeast Sulawesi: Southeast Sulawesi Governor La
\nOde Kaimoeddin installed La Ode Muh. Syafe'i Kahar and Kasim on
\nSunday as Buton regent and deputy regent respectively in the
\nregency capital of Baubau.<\/p>\n
Sjafe'i Kahar was nominated by the United Development Party
\nfaction of the regency legislature. As a career official of the
\nagriculture ministry, he was previously deputy head of the local
\noffice of fisheries and marine resources.<\/p>\n
Kasim, a native of Buton proposed by the same faction, is a
\nconstitutional law expert whose most recent position was as head
\nof the personnel department in the Maluku national education
\noffice in Ambon.<\/p>\n
The governor in his inaugural message stressed the importance
\nof avoiding over indulgence in the euphoria of regional autonomy,
\nwhich could lead to distortions and actions beyond the limits of
