Yogyakarta (ANTARA) - The Governor of the Special Region of
Yogyakarta (DIY), Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X, has emphasised the need
for psychological support and physical treatment for children who are
victims of violence and neglect at one of the daycares in Yogyakarta
city.

The Governor of DIY, when met at the Kepatihan Complex in Yogyakarta
on Monday, stated that the support provided to the victims is not
limited to security aspects, but also includes physical treatment and
psychological care for the children.

“Automatically, we provide that (protection) for the children. We
also need treatment for the children, so we have taken steps from the
beginning,” he said.

Governor Sultan regretted the occurrence of child violence at the
Little Aresha daycare and affirmed that there is no place for any form
of violence in DIY, while urging law enforcement to carry out the legal
process as it should.

“I hope that this incident is the first and the last. Because in
Jogja (Yogyakarta), we do not like violence,” he said.

Furthermore, the Governor of DIY has scheduled a special meeting with
the DIY Department of Women’s Empowerment, Child Protection, and
Population Control (DP3AP2) to obtain a detailed report on the handling
of this case.

“They are already suspects; the police have conducted their
investigation. We just wait; do not preempt. We respect the applicable
legal process,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Secretary of the Regional Government (Sekda) of DIY,
Ni Made Dwi Panti Indrayanti, stated that daycare operations must
prioritise moral responsibility and trust, not merely pursuing business
profits or commercialisation.

“This is a matter of full attention, not just commercialisation. How
then should responsibility and trust in such enterprises be maintained,
because what we are talking about here is children,” she said.

The DIY Regional Government also fully supports the police’s steps in
thoroughly investigating this daycare case legally. This is because they
expressed concern and dismay over the incident, especially regarding the
trauma experienced by the victims.

“Because it is already in the legal process, we just follow it.
Regarding the victims, both the children and their families, I think
support is indeed needed. We have collaborated with the Yogyakarta City
Government for handling through the women’s and children’s protection
support unit,” she said.
",
