        "content": "<p>'Governor a model for subordinates'<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): Inspector General of the Ministry of Home<br>\nAffairs said that Governor Surjadi Soedirdja was an exemplary<br>\nmodel for his subordinates.<\/p>\n<p>Soedardjat Nataatmaja, however, said that Soedirja was not<br>\nsupported by officials of equal quality.<\/p>\n<p>After a council meeting yesterday, he said that this was the<br>\nmain conclusion of an inspection of the municipality's<br>\nperformance under Surjadi.<\/p>\n<p>\"It is up to the city officials whether or not to follow his<br>\nexample,\" Soedardjat said yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>In a response to a suggestion that Surjadi be renominated, he<br>\nreplied that the proposal would be taken into account.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the Pos Kota daily quoted Tadjus Sobirin, chairman<br>\nof the city chapter of the dominant Golkar party as saying that<br>\nthe party would release the name of a candidate on Thursday April<br>\n17.<\/p>\n<p>A 1974 government regulation says that governors may serve a<br>\nsecond term.<\/p>\n<p>Surjadi, who was officially inaugurated as the governor of<br>\nJakarta on Oct. 6, 1992, ends his five-year term on Oct. 6.
