        "content": "<p>Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Tourism has reminded tourists to\ncomply with the regulations enforced to protect the ecosystem of the\nRaja Ampat area in Southwest Papua Province, stating that the government\nwill not tolerate anyone who damages the ecosystem in that nature\ntourism destination.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe affirm that there is zero tolerance for anyone who damages the\nRaja Ampat ecosystem,\u201d the Ministry of Tourism said in a press statement\non Tuesday, following a case of an alleged turtle killing and the\nshooting of fish in Raja Ampat.<\/p>\n<p>The Ministry of Tourism conveyed that tourists visiting Indonesia are\nobliged to comply with and respect the conservation regulations enforced\nby the Indonesian government.<\/p>\n<p>The conservation regulations in question include a ban on hunting and\ninjuring protected wildlife; damaging coral reefs; taking, injuring, or\nkilling protected marine biota; and carrying out other activities that\ncould threaten the sustainability of the ecosystem.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding the case of the alleged turtle killing and shooting of fish\nby tourists in Raja Ampat, the Ministry of Tourism has asked the\nauthorities to investigate all parties involved.<\/p>\n<p>The ministry stated that anyone proven to have provided equipment,\ntransported, accompanied, facilitated, or allowed the violation must be\nheld accountable in accordance with applicable regulations.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Ministry of Tourism, the demand for legal\naccountability must not stop at the main perpetrators, but must target\nall individuals and parties involved.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur message is clear: anyone who comes to Raja Ampat or to\nIndonesian territory must obey Indonesian law. If they violate it, they\nmust be prepared to face the legal consequences,\u201d the Ministry of\nTourism said.<\/p>\n<p>News of a Chinese tourist who shot fish and consumed the meat of a\nprotected turtle in Raja Ampat recently circulated on social media\nplatforms and drew condemnation from the public.<\/p>\n<p>The tourist was reported to have been barred from travel and detained\nby immigration officers on 14 September 2026, whilst at Sultan\nHasanuddin International Airport in Makassar, South Sulawesi.<\/p>\n<p>The legal violation case is being handled by the Raja Ampat Resort\nPolice and the Southwest Papua Regional Police.<\/p>",
