The Garda Indonesia online motorcycle taxi association has called on the government to guarantee that a new regulation mandating a minimum 92 percent income share for drivers is implemented in practice. The association welcomed Presidential Regulation No. 27/2026 as a milestone for legal certainty and welfare, noting that previous platform deductions ranged from 20 to nearly 50 percent. They also pledged to monitor compliance and report any violations to the relevant ministries.

The Garda Indonesia Online Motorcycle Taxi Drivers Association has
urged the government to ensure that the provision for a minimum income
share of 92 percent for online motorcycle taxi (ojol) drivers is
genuinely received by drivers in practice.

“We hope that Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 27 of 2026 can
deliver increased income and protection for online motorcycle taxi
drivers,” said Garda Indonesia Chairman Raden Igun Wicaksono at a press
conference in Tebet, South Jakarta, on Friday.

He said Perpres Number 27 of 2026 on the Protection of Online
Transport Workers represents an important milestone for legal certainty
and improved welfare for ojol drivers.

According to him, prior to Perpres 27/2026, the deductions taken from
drivers by app companies ranged from 20 percent to nearly 50
percent.

With the maximum deduction set at eight percent, Igun said, drivers
normatively receive a larger share of income.

He gave the example of a journey fare of Rp20,000, where an eight
percent deduction equals Rp1,600, leaving Rp18,400 as the driver’s
entitlement.

However, Igun stressed that driver welfare cannot be measured solely
by the percentage of income distribution.

“We want to ensure that eight percent is truly eight percent, and 92
percent is truly 92 percent in the actual transactions received by
drivers,” Igun said.

Garda Indonesia stated it will monitor the implementation of the
Perpres. If it finds app operators that fail to comply with the
provisions, the association will report them to the relevant technical
ministry or agency so that a warning or sanction can be issued.

On the other hand, Igun also welcomed the recognition of ojol drivers
as part of the micro business sector within the micro, small and medium
enterprises (MSME) ecosystem. This status is expected to strengthen
drivers’ bargaining position in their relationship with app
companies.

Furthermore, protection for drivers is also expected to be
strengthened in the future through higher-level regulation so that
certainty of rights and driver welfare is increasingly guaranteed.

The Garda Indonesia Online Motorcycle Taxi Drivers Association
responded positively and enthusiastically to the statement by President
of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto, who said that following
the implementation of the new policy on online transport income
distribution, some drivers have experienced significant income
increases, even reaching two to three times their previous earnings.

The statement was delivered directly by President Prabowo in the
State Address of the President of the Republic of Indonesia on
Friday.

The President said that previously, drivers received around 80
percent of journey income, whereas under the new policy, the driver’s
share becomes 92 percent, with a maximum of 8 percent for the app
operator.
",
