        "content": "<p>Government told to impose antidumping duties on flour<\/p>\n<p>The Jakarta Post, Jakarta<\/p>\n<p>The House of Representatives urged the government to immediately<br>\nimpose antidumping duties on flour products from Europe,<br>\nAustralia, and the United Arab Emirates to protect local<br>\nproducers.<\/p>\n<p>The demand was made during a hearing session between the House<br>\nCommission V overseeing trade and industry affairs and the<br>\nIndonesian Wheat and Flour Producers Association (APTINDO).<\/p>\n<p>&quot;We want the government to quickly impose antidumping<br>\nduties ... to protect local flour producers,&quot; commission chairman<br>\nIsmangun Notonegoro said.<\/p>\n<p>The country&apos;s flour producers are PT Bogasari Flour Mills, PT<br>\nSriboga Ratu Raya, PT Pangan Mas, and PT Berdikari.<\/p>\n<p>The Indonesian Antidumping Committee (Kadi) late last year<br>\nproposed a plan to impose antidumping duties of between 5 to 35<br>\npercent from zero percent on flour products from the above<br>\ncountries, but the plan was canceled by Minister of Industry and<br>\nTrade Rini Soewandi because of high demand at home in the run up<br>\nto end-of-year festivities.<\/p>\n<p>The giant Bogasari, which is a unit of the publicly-listed<br>\ninstant noodle maker PT Indofood Sukses Makmur, has been the most<br>\naggressive in complaining of dumping practices by the overseas<br>\nflour producers.<\/p>\n<p>Bogasari&apos;s market share at home had declined to 70 percent<br>\nlast year from almost 90 percent previously.<\/p>\n<p>Phillip S. Purnama, senior vice president of Bogasari, said<br>\nthat any delay in the anti-dumping measures would only encourage<br>\nother overseas flour producers especially from India and China to<br>\nflood the local market.<\/p>",
