        "content": "<p>Government to privatize TVRI<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA: The government is planning to cut staff numbers at<br>\nstate-owned television station TVRI by up to 70 percent and then<br>\nsell it as part of its privatization program.<\/p>\n<p>House of Representatives (DPR) Commission I for defense,<br>\nforeign and political affairs member I Joko Susilo, of the Reform<br>\nfaction, said here Friday that the government would first cut<br>\nTVRI staff numbers before selling it.<\/p>\n<p>\"If the government really sells TVRI, then the station has to<br>\nlay off more than half of its employees slowly,\" Joko was quoted<br>\nby Antara as saying.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, TVRI has around 7,000 employees.
