The government and the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI)\nhave officially finalised a number of policies regarding the employment\nstatus of teachers holding government work agreements (PPPK). One of the\nkey decisions is the opening of opportunities for PPPK teachers to take\npart in the civil servant candidate (CPNS) selection, which is projected\nto begin in early 2027.<\/p>\n
The decision resulted from a coordination meeting between the\ngovernment and the DPR discussing the arrangement of PPPK teacher\nstatus, including part-time PPPK teachers, PPPK teachers wishing to\nbecome civil servants (PNS), and teachers under the Ministry of Primary\nand Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) and the Ministry of Religious\nAffairs (Kemenag).<\/p>\n
Deputy Speaker of the DPR RI Sufmi Dasco Ahmad said discussions on\nthe status of PPPK teachers have now entered the finalisation stage. \u201cWe\nhave reached the finalisation of the meeting results regarding the\nstatus of part-time PPPK teachers, PPPK teachers who want to become PNS\nwithin Kemendikdasmen, including state madrasah teachers and\nkindergarten teachers,\u201d Dasco said, as quoted from the DPR RI Instagram\naccount on Thursday (20\/8\/2026).<\/p>\n
On the same occasion, Minister for Administrative and Bureaucratic\nReform (PAN-RB) Rini Widyantini confirmed that the government will\nprovide opportunities for PPPK teachers to take part in the PNS\nselection, which is expected to open in early 2027. In addition,\npart-time PPPK teachers will also have the opportunity to become\nfull-time PPPK in the same year.<\/p>\n
\u201cPart-time PPPK teachers will be given the opportunity to become\nfull-time PPPK, which will be carried out in 2027. Then, PPPK teachers\nwill also be given the opportunity to take part in the PNS selection,\nwith registration estimated to open in early 2027,\u201d Rini said.<\/p>\n
Rini revealed that the current number of PPPK teachers nationally\nreaches 955,245 people. Of that number, 231,246 are part-time PPPK\nteachers.<\/p>\n
The number of CPNS positions to be opened will be adjusted to the\nprojected national teacher needs. The government estimates the need for\nteachers at 526,689 positions to support various priority programmes in\nthe education sector.<\/p>\n
These positions will be allocated to meet the need for teaching staff\nin a number of new government programmes, including Sekolah Rakyat\n(People\u2019s Schools), Sekolah Terintegrasi (Integrated Schools), and\nSekolah Garuda (Garuda Schools).<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will open them for the projected national teacher needs for 2026,\nincluding the needs for Sekolah Rakyat and Sekolah Terintegrasi, as well\nas Sekolah Garuda,\u201d Rini said.<\/p>\n
