        "content": "<p>The government is targeting the groundbreaking for five\nwaste-to-energy (PSEL) projects in June 2026. These projects form part\nof the development of PSEL facilities in 30 locations or agglomerations\ncovering 61 districts\/cities. This was stated by the Head of the\nPresidential Staff Office (KSP), Muhammad Qodari, during a discussion at\nthe Bina Graha building in Central Jakarta on Wednesday (22\/4\/2026). He\nsaid that the five initial-stage projects are located in Bekasi City,\nYogyakarta, Greater Bogor, Greater Denpasar, and Greater Bandung. The\ntarget refers to Presidential Regulation (Perpres) No.\u00a012 of 2025 on the\nNational Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN), which aims for 100% waste\nmanagement by 2029. Currently, national waste generation is recorded at\n141,926 tonnes per day, while the capacity of final processing sites\n(TPA) is limited. \u201cThe government is promoting an agglomeration-based\napproach or functional regional unity that combines one area with its\nsupporting regions to enhance waste management effectiveness,\u201d said\nQodari. \u201cThis includes the development of waste-to-energy (WtE) or PSEL\ntechnologies, which are targeted to reduce waste generation by around\n33,000 tonnes per day, equivalent to 22.48% of the national total in\n2029,\u201d he continued.
