Amodi), and we\nhope that cooperation between the two countries in the cultural sector\ncan continue to be strengthened and provide significant benefits to the\ncultural ecosystems of both nations,\u201d stated Fadli Zon when receiving a\nvisit from the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Republic\nof Indonesia, Faisal Abdullah H. Amodi, when confirmed in Jakarta on\nThursday. Indonesia and Saudi Arabia have maintained a friendship for 76\nyears. In the meeting, the Culture Minister discussed several potentials\nfor strategic cooperation in strengthening the cultures of both\ncountries, supported by the diversity and broad scope of Indonesia\u2019s\nObjects of Cultural Advancement. The Culture Minister of the Kingdom of\nSaudi Arabia, Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan Al Saud, is also\nscheduled to make a working visit to Jakarta and will sign the renewal\nof the Cultural Memorandum of Understanding between the two countries,\nwhich is set to expire in 2027. The Culture Minister also conveyed\nIndonesia\u2019s nomination for membership in the UNESCO Intergovernmental\nCommittee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage for\nthe period 2026-2030. Fadli stated that Saudi Arabia\u2019s support for\nIndonesia would strengthen joint commitments in the governance and\npreservation of cultural heritage at the global level. Indonesia is also\npromoting collaboration in submitting extensions for UNESCO Intangible\nCultural Heritage elements, particularly the Arabic Calligraphy element,\nwhich has been inscribed multinationally, including by the Kingdom of\nSaudi Arabia. In addition, Indonesia is exploring extensions for other\nrelevant elements related to living practices in both countries, such as\nMajlis and Date Palm.
