The Indonesian government is preparing efficiency policies, including the option of implementing work from home (WFH) one day per week for certain sectors, as directed by President Prabowo Subianto during a cabinet plenary session. State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi emphasised that this initiative aims to enhance work efficiency and is not related to any disruptions in fuel supply, with assurances that energy provisions remain secure. The policy will not apply universally, excluding public services, industry, and trade, and is still under refinement to consider impacts on informal sectors.

The government is preparing work efficiency policies, including the
option of implementing work from home (WFH) one day per week for certain
sectors. This policy is described as part of efforts to evaluate work
methods, not due to energy supply disruptions. State Secretary Minister
Prasetyo Hadi stated that the directive comes from President Prabowo
Subianto in a full cabinet plenary session.

“We are formulating several policies to start realising that we all
must jointly make ourselves more efficient in working,” he told
reporters at the Presidential Palace, quoted on Sunday (22/3).

“(WFH once a week) That is one form, which may be implemented, at
least one day per week,” Prasetyo added.

He emphasised that the discourse is not related to fuel oil (BBM)
availability issues. The government assures that energy supplies remain
in safe condition.

“It does not mean there is a problem with BBM supply, as we continue
to convey, Insya Allah the BBM supply has no issues, the BBM supply is
safe, but using this momentum as part of self-correction,
self-improvement, self-efficiency,” he explained.

However, he stressed that the final decision has not been set. The
government is still maturing the implementation scheme before announcing
it to the public.

Prasetyo also reminded that the policy will not apply to all sectors.
Public services, industry, and trade are likely not included in the
scheme.

“It will apply to certain sectors. So as not to be misunderstood, for
example, sectors in the form of services, industry, trade, of course,
those may not be part of those policies,” he clarified.

In addition, the government is also considering the impact of the
policy on the informal sector that depends on daily mobility
activities.

“It is being formulated, of course we are thinking about it,” said
Prasetyo.
",
