Jakarta (ANTARA) – The government says it is continuing to strengthen
law enforcement and combat corruption through efforts to recover state
assets, regulate forest areas and reform law enforcement
institutions.

“I think there is no doubt about the government’s commitment to law
enforcement, particularly in corruption cases,” Kurnia Ramadhana, Deputy
III at the Government Communications Agency, said in Jakarta on
Monday.

Speaking at a media discussion on the legal sector’s performance
during the first two years of President Prabowo Subianto’s
administration, Kurnia said the measures were part of efforts to
strengthen law enforcement and ensure natural resources and state
finances are managed in accordance with regulations.

He cited the establishment in January 2025 of the Task Force for the
Regulation of Forest Areas (Satgas PKH), which brings together relevant
ministries and law enforcement agencies to address violations in the use
of forest areas.

According to Kurnia, the task force has generated more than Rp50
trillion in state revenue from administrative sanctions. He added that
the state had regained control of more than six million hectares of
land.

“I think this is the largest recovery payment in history,” he
said.

Kurnia said the government had also given law enforcement agencies
scope to investigate cases involving officials in government priority
programmes, including alleged corruption within the National Nutrition
Agency.

Alongside enforcement, the government is promoting institutional
reforms in law enforcement. Kurnia cited the formation of a police
reform team and an increase in judges’ allowances as measures to support
improvements in the justice sector.

He added that the government was also pushing for the passage of the
Asset Forfeiture Bill to help overcome obstacles to recovering the
proceeds of crime, including when suspects flee overseas.

At the same event, the Centre for Government Law and Anti-Corruption
Studies (Pushan) said the legal sector had made positive progress during
the first two years of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice-President
Gibran Rakabuming Raka’s administration.

Pushan Executive Director Oce Madril said the positive developments
were chiefly underpinned by political support for law enforcement and
the fight against corruption.

Political backing from the country’s highest leaders is seen as an
important factor in combating corruption, particularly because
investigations can intersect with political, business and power
interests.

Over the past two years, Prabowo has demonstrated political support
for law enforcement through statements rejecting corruption, Madril
said. He also noted that there had been relatively little interference
in law enforcement.
",
