        "content": "<p>Deputy Health Minister Dante Saksono Harbuwono has reminded\nlong-distance bus drivers participating in the Health Ministry\u2019s mudik\nprogramme to maintain their physical condition during travel to ensure\nthe safety of passengers returning home for Eid.<\/p>\n<p>Dante delivered this message whilst seeing off the Health Ministry\u2019s\nmudik programme departure from the ministry\u2019s headquarters in Jakarta on\nFriday, 13 March 2026. \u201cTo the drivers, perform stretches and rest every\nfour hours. Safety is paramount,\u201d Dante said.<\/p>\n<p>Through the programme, the Health Ministry is deploying 1,126\nparticipants using 26 bus fleets heading to several cities on the\nislands of Java and Sumatra, including Padang, Bukittinggi, Palembang,\nMalang, Surabaya, Semarang, Solo, Yogyakarta, Purworejo and Medan.<\/p>\n<p>Dante noted that mudik is not merely a journey home to one\u2019s\nhometown, but also an emotional moment to reunite with family after a\nlong separation. \u201cMudik is not just returning to one\u2019s hometown, but a\nhomecoming from the heart. We return to meet our families with warmth\nafter being apart from them for some time,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Health Ministry Secretary General Kunta Wibawa Dasa\nNugraha stated that the mudik programme is accompanied by various health\nexaminations, including for drivers. According to Kunta, drivers have\nundergone health checks since the beginning to ensure they are fit to\ndrive.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are free health checks, including for drivers. They undergo\nhealth screening to ensure there is no consumption of narcotics or\nalcohol, as well as mental health examinations,\u201d Kunta said.<\/p>\n<p>The Health Ministry has also coordinated with various parties to\nensure readiness of health services throughout the mudik route,\nincluding at rest areas and other health service points.<\/p>\n<p>Acting Director General for Disease Control Andi Saguni reminded\ntravellers to maintain their health during travel, particularly those\ntravelling with young children.<\/p>\n<p>He highlighted the potential transmission of contagious diseases such\nas measles, which can spread rapidly in crowded places. \u201cIf a child\nbecomes ill, it is best to postpone travel until they are fully\nrecovered to avoid transmitting the disease to others,\u201d Andi said.<\/p>",
