        "content": "<p>JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Law Minister Supratman Andi Agtas stated that\nthe government has not yet submitted the DIM for the revision of Law\nNo.\u00a02 of 2002 on the Police. The DIM has not been handed over to the\nworking committee (panja) for the Police Law revision in Commission III\nbecause the government still requires time for consultation.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Chairman, we apologise, but today we cannot submit the DIM to the\nleadership and members of Commission III as our government team still\nrequires time to consult and discuss the draft law,\u2019 Supratman said\nduring a working meeting with Commission III, as reported by TVR\nParlemen\u2019s YouTube broadcast on Monday, 26 May 2026.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Once again, we ask for more time, and we will submit the DIM for the\nnext session,\u2019 he added.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018To be able to carry out its core duties professionally, cleanly, and\naccountably amid increasingly complex security challenges,\u2019 Supratman\nstated.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, the government believes the Police Law, which is around 24\nyears old, needs revision to align with legal developments, crime\ntrends, and public needs.<\/p>\n<p>To achieve a modern, humanistic, professional, and integrity-driven\npolice force, the government has identified five key considerations for\nthe revision.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018The second is the reorganisation of active police members in\npositions outside the Police structure,\u2019 Supratman said.<\/p>\n<p>Third, adjusting the retirement age for police officers as part of\nprofessional human resource management aligned with organisational and\nnational interests.<\/p>\n<p>Fourth, strengthening the police education curriculum to include\nhuman rights, democracy, and humanistic principles.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018In principle, the government welcomes and is willing to conduct more\nin-depth and comprehensive discussions with the DPR RI according to the\nlegislative process outlined in regulations,\u2019 Supratman said.<\/p>",
