        "content": "<p>The Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries has acknowledged that\nthe practice of smuggling clear lobster seeds, known locally as benur,\ncontinues unabated. \u201cWe are constantly conducting operations. A task\nforce for anti-smuggling of BBL will later be formed,\u201d said Director\nGeneral of Marine and Fisheries Resources Surveillance Pung Nugroho\nSaksono at the parliamentary complex on Thursday, 11 June 2026. Pung\nstated that the formation of the anti-smuggling task force would be\nenshrined in a presidential regulation, which is currently undergoing\nharmonisation. He explained that the task force, whose members come from\nvarious ministries and inter-agency bodies, is tasked with enforcing the\nlaw against smuggling practices. Its members, Pung noted, include the\nCommander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces, the Chief of the\nIndonesian National Police, the Attorney General\u2019s Office, and the\nMinistry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries. \u201cAll law enforcement agencies\nare in there,\u201d he said. On the same occasion, Pung confirmed that the\nMinistry remains suspending the export of lobster fry to Vietnam due to\nsmuggling. He estimated the moratorium has been in place for half a\nyear. Concurrently with the moratorium, he expressed hope that Indonesia\ncould become self-sufficient in lobster cultivation. Indonesia initially\nengaged in cooperation with Vietnam through a joint venture scheme for\nlobster farming. Through this cooperation, Indonesia and Vietnam\ntargeted the production of 30 million tonnes of lobsters each month for\none year. However, the production target was not achieved due to\nsmuggling. Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu\nTrenggono has estimated that the state loses Rp 16 trillion annually\nfrom these activities.<\/p>",
