The Indonesian Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has assured that the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage will proceed smoothly despite ongoing conflicts in the Middle East, which have driven up flight costs and logistics challenges. President Prabowo Subianto has directed that any cost increases be absorbed by the state through APBN funding and BPKH management, rather than passed on to pilgrims. Coordination with Saudi Arabia confirms ample supplies of food, energy, and water, emphasising the pilgrimage's role in promoting peace.

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah states that the 2026 Hajj
implementation is affected by the ongoing hot conflicts in the Middle
East. Nevertheless, the government continues to ensure the smooth
execution of the Hajj pilgrimage. “Up to this moment, we are fully
prepared to depart the first batch of pilgrims starting on 22 April,”
said Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah of Indonesia, Dahnil Anzar
Simanjuntak, when contacted on Friday (10/4/2026). Dahnil explained that
the tense situation in the Middle East impacts flight costs, which have
increased. President Prabowo Subianto’s directive is that these cost
increases must not be borne by the pilgrims. “President Prabowo has
issued an order that all flight-related cost increases must not be
passed on to the pilgrims; the state must find solutions to ease the
burden. Therefore, we are currently seeking financing schemes from the
APBN and finances managed by BPKH (Hajj Financial Management Agency),”
he clarified. Additionally, the conflict affects the availability of
logistics in the holy land. The Indonesian government has coordinated
with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and ensured that logistics for
Indonesian pilgrims are secure. “The Saudi Arabian government provides
assurances that the availability of food logistics, energy, and water
during the upcoming three-month Hajj season is more than sufficient, and
they guarantee that the Hajj implementation will proceed as usual and
remain safe and comfortable,” he said. “Insyaallah, we can worship with
devotion; Hajj is a pilgrimage that calls for peace,” he added.
",
