        "content": "<p>Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita has stated that the\ngovernment does not position one automotive technology as the opponent\nof another in driving the transformation of the national automotive\nindustry. Speaking at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show\n(GIIAS) 2026 in Tangerang, Banten, on Thursday, the minister said\nvarious technologies have an equal role in achieving emission reduction\ntargets while strengthening national energy resilience. \u201cWe are not in a\nposition to place one technology as the enemy of another. Battery-based\nelectric vehicles, hybrid vehicles, increasingly efficient internal\ncombustion engines, and the utilisation of biodiesel and bioethanol are\nall paths towards the same goal, namely lower emissions and stronger\nenergy resilience. What we are accelerating is the goal,\u201d Agus said.\nAccording to Agus, Indonesia\u2019s main challenge is not determining which\nautomotive technology will dominate the market in the future, but rather\nensuring the domestic industry gains the maximum economic benefit from\nthese technological developments. Agus reminded that the transition\nprocess towards more environmentally friendly technology must be\naccompanied by industrial deepening. Without strengthening domestic\nproduction capacity, Indonesia will merely shift from one form of import\ndependency to another. \u201cA transition not accompanied by industrial\ndeepening will only transfer our dependency from one form of import to\nanother form of import. That is not transformation,\u201d he said.<\/p>",
