        "content": "<p>Environment Minister Hanif Faisol Nurofiq has designated 20\nagglomeration areas encompassing 47 regencies and cities as priority\nzones for investment in Waste-to-Electricity Processing (PSEL) on\nTuesday (14\/4\/2026). This designation responds to President Prabowo\nSubianto\u2019s instruction to prioritise waste management in urban areas\nwith generation exceeding 1,000 tonnes per day.<\/p>\n<p>This strategic policy was announced during a joint press conference\nwith Investment and Downstreaming Minister Rosan Roeslani at the\nDanantara Building in Jakarta. Based on compiled data, 16 of these 20\nagglomerations have been declared administratively complete, while the\nremaining four areas are in the process of finalisation by\nDanantara.<\/p>\n<p>According to Liputan6, Hanif Faisol Nurofiq explained that these 20\nagglomeration areas have met the initial qualification stage and hold\nofficial decision letters from the ministry. The minimum waste\ngeneration threshold of 1,000 tonnes per day serves as the primary\nrequirement under the current Presidential Regulation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMeanwhile, for cities with waste generation between 500\u20131,000 tonnes\nper day, they do not meet the primary requirements of the Presidential\nRegulation (Perpres), which sets priority PSEL areas with waste\ngeneration exceeding 1,000 tonnes,\u201d stated Hanif, the Environment\nMinister\/Head of BPLH.<\/p>\n<p>A joint team evaluation also identified seven additional\nagglomeration areas across 26 regencies and cities with waste volumes\nbetween 500 and 1,000 tonnes per day. These areas have received\nrecommendation letters but cannot yet be issued decision letters due to\nthe minimum threshold rule in Perpres 109.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, there are four agglomeration areas in 14 regencies and\ncities currently held at the verification stage. Overall, the government\nhas prepared a total of 31 agglomeration areas across 86 regencies and\ncities for follow-up in the investment scheme for developing\neco-friendly energy facilities.<\/p>\n<p>Investment and Downstreaming Minister Rosan Roeslani added that\ncollaboration between Danantara and the Environment Ministry will\ncontinue to explore various supporting PSEL technologies.
